John C. Alves, DMD
Meet Dr. Alves
I’m proud to be a part of a team where we provide the best care to each one of our patients. Seeing smiles change as treatment progresses has always been one of the most exciting elements of my profession and it never ceases to bring me joy, though I’ve been practicing for 30 years!
I feel very strongly that being a doctor in charge of the professional care of patients requires total dedication. I expect patients to call me if questions or emergencies arise. My agreement in becoming a doctor was to accept certain responsibilities, including being available for patients other than within their regular office appointments.
Education and Affiliations
I did my undergraduate studies at Auburn University and then went on to the University of Alabama Dental School, completing my orthodontic residency there. I am true believer in continuing education classes, as they help to keep me abreast of constantly evolving orthodontic treatment. My affiliations with the national, state, and local branches of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontics are also fundamental in helping me maintain leading edge procedures in my craft.
I am a native of Guntersville, Alabama where I’ve lived for 58 years. My son, Clark, graduated from Auburn University and has been accepted to UAB Medical School. My son, Will, is an engineering student at Auburn University, and my daughter, Mallory, is starting there as a freshman as well. When I’m not working I enjoy farming, hunting, fishing, and gardening. I also actively support fundraising for various foundations such as the Apple Foundation, United Way, American Heart Foundation, and a local hospice.
